Statement regarding former DA investigator sentenced to prison

“A violation of the public trust can never be tolerated,” said David Mitcham, Trial Bureau Chief for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. “An investigator for this office, under a prior administration, broke the law instead of enforcing it.”
“It was a sad day for Harris County when this crime occurred, but it is gratifying to know justice has now been served by the outstanding work of special prosecutors and the jury, which sentenced Dustin Deutsch to five years in prison.”
Deutsch, a former district attorney investigator and peace officer, was sentenced Friday. He was convicted of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of rare comic books and sports memorabilia in 2012 that were in the care, custody and control of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.”
