Bill Hawkins, Juvenile Division Chief
Our Juvenile Division staffs the three Juvenile District Courts. Those courts hear cases filed against children
from ten to sixteen years of age and had in excess of 13,000 petitions (both newly opened or reopened petitions).
The Juvenile prosecutors also ran a Truancy project for the school districts in Eastern Harris County. The project
is still new but it appears that we were able to reduce truancy in participating schools by over 70%
