Men who robbed hair shop prosecuted to fullest “extension” of the law

Two brothers were sentenced to decades in prison for their roles in a wild robbery in which they stole hundreds of hair extensions from a Houston shop before launching into a car chase in which they shot at a witness, prosecutors said Friday.

“They were bold. They knew what they were doing,” Harris County Assistant District Attorney Jason Sanchez said. “It is amazing that no one was killed.”

Trey Donte Robertson, 24, and Troy Anthony Robertson, 25, were each convicted of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon this week.

Troy, who stood trial, was sentenced Thursday to 40 years. His old brother Trey pleaded guilty to the same charge Friday and got 15 years.

Surveillance cameras captured footage of the brothers wearing masks and gloves, and pointing guns and stormed “She’s Happy Hair” one weekday morning in March 2015.

Terrified employees retreated to the back of the store and hid behind a locked door as the Robertsons stuffed about $84,000 worth of the hair bundles into pillow cases.

Hair extensions, which come from as far away as China, retail for $75 to $130 a bundle. On the street, they are known to fetch about $50.

As the Robertsons fled, they drew the attention of a witness, who called 911 and followed them.

The brothers fired several bullets at the witness, punching holes into his car, but missing him.

The witness testified during Troy’s four-day trial in the 208th District Court.
