District Attorney and Police Chief Join Forces for Press Conference
(Houston, Texas) District Attorney Patricia R. Lykos and Chief of Police Harold Hurtt will conduct a press conference Thursday, March 12 at 11:30 a.m. on the 20th floor of the Criminal Justice Center in the Ceremonial Courtroom.
They will address the wrongful conviction of Ricardo Rachell for the sexual assault of a young male in October 2002 and the eventual charging of Andrew Wayne Hawthorne, whose DNA linked him to the crime.
Hurtt and Lykos will discuss positive changes in procedures and protocols in their agencies that are providing more transparency and accountability for criminal prosecutions.
Both the District Attorney and the Chief of Police will respond to questions at the conclusion of their reports. All news media are invited to attend.
