DA Charges Woman in Alleged Patrol Car Theft and Police Chase
Houston TX – Three felony charges were filed against a woman accused of stealing a Precinct 7 Constable’s deputy patrol car, fleeing from officers and causing a crash that hospitalized three teenaged boys, Harris County District Attorney Patricia Lykos reported Friday.
Catrinna J. Miller, 23, of Cypress, remained in jail Friday on charges of Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Attempting to Take a Weapon from a Peace Officer. Those state jail felonies, upon conviction, carry punishment of up to two years’ confinement and $10,000 fine.
Brent Mayr, a prosecutor in the District Attorney’s Vehicular Crimes Section, requested no bond for the defendant. He said a continuing investigation will determine if additional charges are warranted in the case.
Authorities are monitoring the conditions of the three injured boys – two were reported to be in critical condition and one in serious condition.
Miller is accused of trying to disarm a deputy constable who stopped to assist her on the Sam Houston Tollway late Wednesday. Investigators said she fought with the officer before taking his patrol unit and being pursued by police.
That chase ended on I-10 East near Wayside, when she crashed the constable’s car into a semi truck and another vehicle carrying the three teens.
Arraignment for Miller is scheduled for Tuesday in the 183rd District Court.
