Lykos to be Sworn in as Harris County District Attorney

LYKOS TO BE SWORN IN AS HARRIS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY
Houston, TX - Patricia R. Lykos will be sworn in as the Harris County District Attorney; she is the first woman chief of the Office since it was created more than 100 years ago. Ceremony is: January 1, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Harris County Jury Assembly Room at 1019 Congress, First Floor.
Guests will be welcomed by the Honorable Robert Eckels, former Harris County Judge.
Reverend Dr. Charles L. Jackson, Pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Board member of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, will deliver the invocation.
The pledges of allegiances will be provided by United States Marine Corps Sergeant Ricky Garcia and Corporal Dane Garcia. Both of these brothers have served multiple tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ms. Ashley Johnson will sing the National Anthem.
The Oath of Office will be administered by the Honorable D. Gibson (Gib) Walton, immediate past president of the State Bar of Texas and partner with Vinson & Elkins. His late father, Dan Walton, was a former District Attorney of Harris County.
The Reverend Presbyter Nicholas Hadzellis, associate priest at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral and former criminal and family law attorney, will deliver the benediction.
Upon conclusion of her swearing in ceremony, District Attorney Lykos will swear in the office’s Assistant District Attorneys and Investigators.
